Choose Your Happy New Year
My new year began on my birthday last October. For almost two years leading up to it, I was intentional about how I wanted to enter my next decade of life and started the process to be at my best. I went to therapy, detoxed my body and ate raw vegan food for weeks at a time. I began to meditate and pray every day, no matter what. I discovered a workout routine I liked and stuck with it. And, I went back to school. I was determined to learn and grow and be healthy in every way—in my mind, in my body, in my heart. I released a lot. And on my 40th birthday, I had so much space to receive. I felt glorious.
On any day, I believe we can step into a new year and even a new life. It feels great to do it on January first and I assure you, just as great on any given Tuesday. The point is this—we choose. As long as we draw breath and have life, we have an opportunity to make that life what we desire. It may be difficult at times. Those times will pass. On new year’s day and any day of your choice, if you draw breath, know that you can be brand new.
This post was inspired by Bible scripture, Lamentations 3:22-23 which says: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.
